The Wanchese Preservation Alliance (WPA) was founded in 2023 as a North Carolina statewide Nonprofit , membership-based organization.
We are a community advocacy organization promoting single-family residential land use, traditional village business, and a sustainable marine-based economy.
Through leadership, education, and community involvement we strive to maintain livable places, a sustainable ecosystem and shared prosperity in the village of Wanchese and greater Dare County.
To accomplish these goals:
We work with elected officials, real estate developers, natural resource professionals, and residents to improve quality of life.
We speak out against development proposals that would damage environmentally sensitive ecosystems and coastal wetlands.
We support sustainable land use and historical preservation through direct community involvement.
We finance our efforts through grass-roots donations that help WPA continue to advocate for local government policies that protect our village, coastal environment, and way of life.
